Are you buying a home? Applications are now open for the city of Fresno’s 0% down-payment assistance program for low-income homebuyers.

Eligible homebuyers can apply for up to $100,000 in down-payment support through the city’s Mortgage Assistance Program. Borrowers cannot have owned a home in the last three years and must meet income requirements. After receiving the money, recipients must take an 8-hour homebuyer education course.

Money to repay the loan comes after the home is sold, meaning no monthly payments. The loan, however, is forgivable after 15 years. Homes must be within city limits — excluding county islands — and must be a primary residence.

The program is funded through the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
