TORRINGTON, Conn. — A person was found dead after a Torrington house fire Wednesday morning.
The Torrington Fire Department said they responded at 8:17 a.m. to the fire on Marvin Street.
Arriving firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. Fire crews worked to suppress the fire and searched the inside.
Firefighters found a person, who city police identified as 52-year-old Michele Cullen, dead inside the home.
A household pet also died as a result of the incident, the fire department said.
The Torrington Fire Marshal's Office, the Torrington Police Department and the Connecticut State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
