COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - One person and a dog were rescued from a structure fire in Colorado Springs Wednesday afternoon, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD).

At 1:42 p.m., firefighters said they were on scene of a fire on Deerfield Hills Road near Milton E. Proby Parkway and Hancock Expressway.

CSFD said a person and a dog who were unable to evacuate the home were rescued from the second floor of the building. Neither were injured, crews said.

Firefighters said the fire was found in the kitchen of the home and was quickly extinguished. As of 2:06 p.m., CSFD said the fire was under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
