JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Missouri Republican politicians are defending a new congressional map through legal action.
Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against a group circulating a petition to put the state’s new congressional map up for a vote of the people.
The lawsuit claims People Not Politicians’ efforts to put the map before voters is unconstitutional. The attorney general goes on to claim the group is backed by dark money. This comes as Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins attempts to invalidate signatures the group has already collected.
