A driver who failed to stop behind several cars and a school bus picking up children in the Montreal suburb of Varennes caused a four-vehicle crash Wednesday morning, police said.
The crash happened around 9 a.m. on Route Marie-Victorin (Route 132), when several vehicles stopped behind a school bus picking up children in an 80 km/h zone, said Sgt. Jean-Luc Tremblay, spokesperson for the Richelieu Saint-Laurent intermunicipal police.
Four vehicles were involved, he added. “They were stopped in traffic to respect the stop sign for the school bus that was picking up students on the road. At some point, for a cause that remains to be determined, a car collided with the last vehicles that were stopped.”
No one was seriously injured but several people were taken to a hospital for assessment,
