ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Drivers should slow down near Issaquah Valley Elementary School after the city installed new school speed zone cameras on Newport Way Northwest. The cameras will be active starting on Friday, Oct. 17.

The cameras will enforce the school zone speed limit Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays, when students have early release, enforcement ends at 2:10 p.m.

Drivers caught going more than 25 mph in the 20 mph school zone will receive a $124 ticket. Vehicles can be cited multiple times per day for violations.

The city says signs have been posted to notify drivers of automated cameras in the area.

This is the second school zone camera location in Issaquah. The city previously installed cameras on 2nd Avenue Southeast near Issaquah Mid
