LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- Cyber criminals are utilizing social engineering to attack victims through their business emails.

Kathryn Mobley, Better Business Bureau of Acadiana CEO, said scammers engineer email attacks based on your company's social posts and interactions.

"They can engineer that to take advantage of you," Mobley said. "So that could be identity theft, that could be your payment information, all types of different ways."

AI tools allow scammers to scour the internet and create emails that mimic an employer, gain the trust of employees and scam them.
