OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- Opelousas City Council member Chasity Davis Warren has transformed her office building in Opelousas into a self-funded safe haven for young women and children in need.
With six beds, the safe haven provides a refuge for young women escaping difficult situations. Warren offers transportation, essentials and resources to help them start anew.
"God instilled that in me to do that for someone," Warren said. "I always think about what if my children one day became homeless and how I want somebody to treat them."
One of the beneficiaries of Warren's efforts is Bailey Ozanne, who, along with her son, was on the brink of homelessness.
