SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Iowa authorities say a man, who’s serving a life sentence for a 1993 murder in Sioux City, has died.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says 63-year-old Matthew Hallum died Tuesday, Oct. 15, evening in a hospice room at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville. He’s been in prison since February 1997.

Hallum was found guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse for the 1993 rape and murder of 15-year-old Tanya Rubottom in a Sioux City apartment.

A judge sentenced him to a life prison term without the possibility of parole.
