A teenager’s life was saved in a house fire thanks to quick action from some Lee County Sheriff’s deputies.
The sheriff’s office got a 911 call just after 4PM on Monday, October 13, about a fire on Lee County Road 41 in the Beauregard community. They say the called said they’d left the kitchen briefly to go to the bathroom only to return to see the kitchen was on fire.
Two deputies arrived at the home, entering the home despite heavy smoke. They crouched low to search for people inside.
They found a 16-year-old girl lying unconscious on the floor, appearing to be overcome by smoke inhalation. The two deputies got her out of the home and into the front yard. They performed emergency measures on her until an ambulance arrived.
