The family of former Selma Mayor George Evans hosted the 15th Annual Evans Special Benefit Fund Golf Classic in support of children with special needs.

Golfers from around the state hit the links at Ocmulgee Golf Course in Valley Grande — to participate in the event.

The annual golf classic raises awareness and money — for a segment of the community that often gets overlooked.

“Proceeds from the golf tournament go to special needs children and also to three different entities. Dallas County School System. Selma City School System. And Cahaba Mental Health. This year we were able to give them $10,000 dollars each,” said Jeannie Evans.
