ACTION 8 UPDATE: The conditions of two of the people shot in the mass shooting in downtown Montgomery have improved.

Montgomery police Lt. Tina McGriff confirmed to Action 8 News that two of the five people who had been listed in life-threatening condition have improved enough to be considered in non-life threatening condition.

The shooting happened at approximately 11:31PM on Saturday, October 4, near the intersection of Bibb and Commerce streets, in the heart of the city’s downtown tourist district.

Of the 12 injured, seven are under the age of 20, with the youngest being 16 years old.

In addition, the mass shooting led to the deaths of 17-year-old Jeremiah Morris and 43-year-old Shalanda Williams. Morris was pronounced dead at the scene while Williams died at a hospital.
