OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Increased safety on a busy North Omaha street is the end goal of a priority project in the city’s Vision Zero Action Plan.

Those living and working in Florence say North 30th Street is almost like a speedway.

That’s hopefully changing with the city adding traffic calming measures.

This stretch of North 30th in Florence is a real problem.

That’s despite posting speed limit signs, signage asking drivers to drive 30 mph on 30th Street, adding speed monitors, posted crosswalks, even enforcement by Douglas County deputies, along with a near miss of children at a daycare .

When a speeding car crashed into a play area moments after children were playing there.

Nothing seems to deter drivers from speeding.
