CLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office has charged two children for the alleged sexual assault of a 5-year-old in a field near East 148th Street and St. Clair Avenue last month in Cleveland.

According to a release issued on Wednesday, prosecutors are charging a 10-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy with the following:

One count of attempted murder

Four counts of rape

Two counts of felonious assault

One count of kidnapping

One count of strangulation

"We are actively receiving information and evidence," the prosecutor's office stated. "Given the sensitive nature of this case, we decline to release any additional details and decline to comment further."
