SANTA CLAUS, Ind. —

A husband and wife were found dead in a murder-suicide in Santa Claus Indiana, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

"John is a really good friend of mine. I just spoke with him Sunday, so it was very, very difficult to see that," said Santa Claus Police Chief James Faulkenburg.

In a small town like Santa Claus, everyone knows everyone, including the police chief, who said he personally knew the couple involved in the tragic incident.

"It was the last place I would ever think something like this would happen," he said.

The community is shaken and the family heartbroken by the unexpected tragedy. Officers rushed to the house on South Kasper Drive after Jamie Adkins called 911, saying she shot her husband. They found both Jamie and John Adkins shot.
