ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) - Amerks defenseman Zach Metsa has been doubted his whole life.
"The 'undersized' tag you get, you're kind of, in my mind, you're expected to kind of prove it a little bit more," Metsa said.
Although he's been doubted, that doubt is exactly what has helped him work his way up in his professional career.
"It's kind of the reason I've had so much drive and motivation," Metsa said. "Like, you want to prove them wrong."
Despite captaining Quinnipiac University to its first-ever men's hockey National Championship in 2023, Metsa went undrafted. At 5-foot-9, teams saw his size as a disadvantage. But Metsa doesn't see it that way.
