One of Canada’s most-wanted is off the streets.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police arrested Pierry Philogène on Tuesday night. He was No. 6 on the BOLO list of Canada’s top 25 fugitives wanted as a suspect in a 2021 murder in Montreal.
Transit Police Crime Suppression Team members were able to determine Philogène’s location in Surrey on Tuesday, and after a brief foot chase, he was arrested with the assistance of Vancouver police.
A search revealed a fake ID, leading to a recommendation of additional charges for obstruction of a peace officer and possession of identity documents without lawful excuse, which were approved by the B.C. Prosecution Service. He will be returned to Montreal to face first-degree murder charges in the death of Charles-Olivier Boucher Savard.
