KENMORE, N.Y. — Food insecurity is a growing concern for families across Western New York, especially when school is out. Now, a new program in the Ken-Ton school district is stepping up to help.
Each week, volunteers gather at Kenmore United Methodist church to fill dozens of bags with healthy foods. It's all part of a national effort called Blessings in a Backpack.

The program just launched in Ken-Ton and already helps one hundred local students take home weekend meals. Each bag includes six nutritious items: two breakfasts, two proteins, and two snacks.
