NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) are reminding drivers to move over or slow down for roadside workers amid alarming statistics.

Officials say ODOT employees remain among the most at-risk roadside workers. Since January, ODOT vehicles and equipment have been struck 88 times statewide, surpassing last year’s total of 84.

During a two-hour operation on U.S. Route 20 near Grafton Road in Lorain County last week, troopers from the Elyria Post and the Highway Patrol’s Aviation Section monitored traffic as ODOT crews cleaned drainage structures.
