The city of Clermont is getting millions of federal dollars to help start up a new fire station in the rapidly expanding Wellness Way area.

It will be the city's fifth fire station.

The station will serve a ballooning population in the area that was, once upon a time, orange groves. Now, thousands of new rooftops are popping up.

Clermont City Council recently approved the awarding of $3.5 million in federal dollars to its fire department.

The money would be used to fund 15 new personnel to staff the yet-to-be-built station.

"I love it here, it's beautiful," said Daniel McGraw, who just moved to Wellness Way a month ago from New Jersey. "There's all these new complexes here, it's a big, big area. It's like a town itself in this area."
