A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday when his bike collided with a commuter bus on the Riverside (91) Freeway, which was partially shut down because of the crash.

The crash was reported at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on the westbound 91 at Tyler Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It was unclear what caused the motorcycle and Riverside Transit Agency bus to collide.

The motorcycle overturned, tossing the rider into the HOV lane, according to the CHP. A car was also reportedly struck by the out of control bike.

Riverside Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later, and the CHP shut down two traffic lanes for public safety, leaving two available.
