CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Harrison County voters may see a new levy on the May 2026 ballot with the goal of preserving history.

The Historic Preservation Alliance of Harrison County proposed a levy to the Harrison County Commission on Wednesday that would provide funding to 14 organizations throughout the county.

According to Mike Queen, a member of the Historic Preservation Alliance who spoke at the commission meeting, members from each organization had met for several months to discuss funding opportunities. As nearly all organizations often request funding from the county commission and various city councils, the levy was an idea to try to source outward for funds.

The proposed levy would last five years and generate a total of $491,000 a year, as the current estimated taxpayer fee
