KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A local senior was in for a big orange surprise on Tuesday after the University of Tennessee pep squad, along with some familiar faces, popped in to thank her for her volunteer spirit.
Frances, a 98-year-old woman, has been attending UT football and basketball games since she was in high school, holding season tickets until she was 85.
She worked in the agriculture department for the university for 31 years before retiring, but her love for the Vols never faded. According to a release from Brookdale Senior Living, the event was only possible thanks to the YOLO foundation, which is a nonprofit dedicated to helping fulfill the dreams of older adults.
The UT pep squad and even Smokey popped in to thank her for her lifelong commitment to the Volunteer State.
