A boys’ soccer district championship trophy in Division 2 was handed out Wednesday night in Dearborn when Divine Child Catholic High School welcomed in Madison Heights Lamphere for a title game affair.
Both teams advanced to the district finale by virtue of semifinal wins on Monday. Divine Child made quick work of Garden City by a final score of 6-0, while Lamphere needed overtime to complete a thrilling 2-1 comeback win over the district’s top seed in Hamtramck.
Lamphere was also making their first district finals appearance since 2019, which was also the last time they won such a title.
The Rams, though, will have to wait for another time after the hometown Falcons collected their seventh district crown following a 5-0 shutout win.
