Safety improvements being carried out on a section of the A21 near the Kent border which often sees accidents, will mean six weeks of roadworks. Temporary traffic lights have been operating since Monday (October 6) on the dual carriageway near Ashdene Garages in Hurst Green.

National Highways is carrying out "critical safety improvements" which include widening the road and installing traffic islands. It described the part of the A21 as a "busy stretch which has a high incident rate".

Following this work, there will be nine overnight closures between Flimwell and Coopers Corner while resurfacing takes place. All work is scheduled to end on November 29.
