The executive director of the Santa Fe International Literary Festival said it’s a quality that has drawn top-notch authors from around the world to the “nuanced and layered” city.

There’s something else she can’t quite put her finger on or describe. Regardless, the City Different welcomes the festival’s featured writers with open arms.

“We really welcome them and honor them,” Mulry said. “And I think the whole community is highly engaged. A lot of those people are asking really good questions and really want to listen — and I think that appeals to these authors.”
