A Queensland mother has described the horror of learning of the alleged assault of her child at a Sunshine Coast childcare facility.

A carer at Goodstart Early Learning in Caloundra is accused of throwing and shoving a two-year-old girl earlier this month, with the child’s mother learning on Tuesday that police will not be seeking charges against the worker.

“As soon as I had heard about it, I sort of blacked out,” the mother told 7NEWS .

“I started crying and I was shaking.”

The girl’s mother said two witnesses saw her toddler allegedly being thrown onto a mattress twice and her head shoved into a pillow.

Photos shared with this publication show the girl’s neck light blue with bruising, allegedly at the hands of an educator trusted to care for her.
