Chancellor Rachel Reeves has confirmed she is "looking at" tax rises to be announced at her Budget in November.

It means millions of households are braced for tax hikes, though the exact nature of the rises remains unclear.

Labour has pledged not to raise the 'main' taxes which impact ordinary families: income tax, VAT and National Insurance.
