People on benefits have been warned the Department for Work and Pensions will spy on their bank accounts for THREE MONTHS before telling them under new powers. As the Bill progresses through the Lord's, DWP benefits claimants have been warned.

The Bill will see three benefits targeted first - Universal Credit , Pension Credit and ESA. This is because these three have the highest fraud rate. The crackdown under the Labour Party government comes in a bid to stop welfare fraud across the country.

In an update issued yesterday, Wednesday, October 15, Baroness Sherlock said: "The amendments seek to clarify the obligations of financial institutions not to disclose that they have received an information notice under the new power enabling direct deduction orders—DDOs."
