NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The fall season is also considered as secondary severe weather season. With some bouts of cooler air during the month of October, we are preparing for an even bigger cooldown into the latter half of the month. This weekend, strong storms and gusty winds are possible Saturday into early Sunday.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for counties west of I-65. In a Marginal Risk, a few severe storms are possible.
This threat is on the lower end scale. The primary severe storm threat will be damaging wind gusts that could exceed 60 mph. However, this storm setup favors a lot of wind energy, meaning that an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Isolated brief heavy rain is possible, and hail is very low.
