GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The public is invited to step into a powerful celebration of Mexican heritage and culture at the Grand Rapids Art Museum’s annual community ofrenda.
An ofrenda (Spanish for“offering”) is a vibrant altar created to honor the lives of loved ones who have died.
The celebration takes place from Oct. 16 through Nov. 9 at the Creative Learning Center in the GRAM’s lobby, 101 Monroe Center St. NW.
Rooted in the centuries-old tradition of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), ofrendas serve as both a remembrance and a joyful celebration filled with photographs, favorite foods, flowers and cherished objects.
All are invited to bring their own memento, such as a photograph, small object or handwritten note to place on GRAM’s community ofrenda.
