Diane Keaton’s death from pneumonia was “not a shock” to a longtime pal who claims she had been sick for a while.

The beloved actress, who died over the weekend at the age of 79, had been struggling with an unnamed illness, leading to the decline of her health, the friend told TMZ on Wednesday.

“The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” a rep for the family said in a statement earlier Wednesday, revealing the cause of her death.
