We’re learning more about the chaotic scene that unfolded during a youth football game on Saturday in Guthrie.
According to police, tensions ran high on both sides during the 5th-grade matchup between Guthrie and Shawnee, one of the final games of the season, which ended early.

Guthrie Mayor Adam Ropp is speaking on behalf of the local league after accusations of unsportsmanlike conduct were made against Guthrie coaches and fans by the visiting Shawnee team.
“From what I understand, it was initiated by the visiting team, that’s what I’ve been told by referees and league officials,” said Ropp.
