If Stellantis is allowed to break a commitment to Brampton autoworkers by transferring thousands of jobs to the United States to avoid Trump administration tariffs, then it can happen anywhere else in Canada, warns a union leader representing thousands of Stellantis workers in Windsor.
“If they’re allowed to take a product that was absolutely committed to Canada and that plant and move it out of this country, and the government doesn’t step in to use its leverage to protect our auto industry, then what stops this from spreading to other automakers and other plants?” said Unifor Local 444 president James Stewart.
