LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - With winter just around the corner, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and Liz Elliott, Director of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities, outlined the City’s updated winter operations plan during a news conference Thursday at Lincoln’s Brine Facility on the north end of the Municipal Services Center.

Mayor Gaylor Baird noted that while the city enjoyed unseasonably warm weather Thursday, Lincoln’s public works teams have been preparing for months for whatever the season brings.

“While Lincoln averages about 27 inches of snowfall each year, we’ve seen everything from five inches to more than 50,” the mayor said. “Our team takes that challenge seriously and continuously refines our coordinated plan to keep residents safe.”
