A second man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion in Waterloo where the homeowner was assaulted with a hammer and bear spray.

The incident occurred, police said, on Sept. 21, at about 2:05 a.m., when three masked men gained entry to a residence in the area of Stillmeadow Circle and Beechlawn Drive and assaulted the homeowner before fleeing the area.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

During the initial search for the suspects, a police service dog found one, resulting in charges against a 54-year-old Hamilton man.

On Wednesday, a 25-year-old Burlington man was arrested and charged with robbery with a firearm, break and enter, and assault with a weapon.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
