The first-ever weekend Kitchener GO trains will start Nov. 23 to ferry passengers back and forth to Toronto’s Union Station on Saturdays and Sundays.
The schedule is not yet posted. It’s anticipated at least two trains operated by the province will depart Kitchener for Toronto each day and two trains will depart Toronto for Kitchener.
Ontario Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria announced weekend service at a GO Transit yard in central Kitchener. “This is honestly a great milestone, a huge milestone,” he said Thursday.
The new service arrives almost 14 years after the province initiated weekday commuter trains out of Kitchener, in December 2011.
