NORFOLK, Va. — Four months after millions of Americans took to the streets to denounce what they called the authoritarian expansion of power under President Donald Trump, organizers are planning a second nationwide “No Kings” protest. More than 2,500 separate marches and rallies are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, including multiple events across Hampton Roads.

The “No Kings” movement, launched earlier this year by the 50501 Movement, draws its name from the group’s commitment to democratic governance—50 states, 50 protests, one movement. Protesters compare Trump’s actions to those of a monarch rather than an elected president, citing court defiance, National Guard deployments, and policies favoring wealthy allies.
