IOWA CITY — Over the past decade, two of the best individual performances by an Iowa football opponent in Kinnick Stadium have come from Penn State’s Saquon Barkley in 2017 and Troy’s Devonte Ross in 2024.

Barkley rushed 28 times for 211 yards and caught 12 passes for another 94, with a signature hurdle over Iowa’s Josh Jackson in which he was also hit mid-air by Amani Hooker and still stayed on his feet for a key first down in 2017. Penn State won that game on the final play, 21-19.

As for Ross? Well, as unfortunate Iowa fate would have it, he’s coming back to Kinnick as a Nittany Lion for an encore after burning the Hawkeyes for three touchdowns of 60-plus yards Iowa’s 38-21 win over Troy. Ross scored on TD catches of 63 and 62 yards and also returned a Rhys Dakin punt 77 yards
