A man who murdered his girlfriend had a history of violence , having previously assaulted his ex-partner and even spat at and punched his own mother. Michael Ormandy was sentenced to life imprisonment today, with a minimum term of 24 years, after being found guilty of the murder of Rebekah Campbell. ‌

The 34 year old from Linacre Road in Litherland, stabbed his girlfriend 27 times inside her flat at Knowsley Heights in Huyton this past April. Despite only sustaining a minor cut to his hand during the incident, which required minimal hospital treatment, he claimed he acted in self-defence. ‌
