CHICAGO, Ill. (WTVO) — Funeral services were held to honor Sister Jean, a beloved Chicago icon and the Loyola University men's basketball chaplain, who passed away at the age of 106.
Sister Jean served as the chaplain for Loyola University's men's basketball team for over 30 years, gaining nationwide fame during the team's Cinderella run to the Final Four in 2018.
"106 years is a hell of a run. And you see all the people coming out today, the students waiting in line outside the church. It really is a tribute to Sister Jean, her legacy, and all the wonderful things she did for the university," said Steven Watson, Loyola Athletic Director.
Speakers at the service recalled Sister Jean's unending dedication to the school and its students.
