LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office said the incident involving stolen construction equipment in Ogden Township "has been determined to be a misunderstanding."

According to the sheriff's office, an asphalt company was working at a residence Wednesday morning on Crockett Highway near Horton Road and left a gas-powered compact near the worksite.

The sheriff's office said between 9:44 and 9:50 a.m., a male subject pulled into the driveway and went to the front door of the residence. After no one answered, the person put the plate compactor into his car and left the area.

The sheriff's office said that the individual contacted the sheriff's office and that he is not a person of interest. According to the sheriff's office, the equipment has been returned to the owner.
