Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce has accused the Albanese government of driving Australian industry into the ground through its “mythical” renewable energy policies.

Mr Joyce took aim at the government and Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s $1 billion solar panel manufacturing scheme, which has so far delivered only two successful contracts.

The Nationals MP described the Solar SunShot Program - designed to generate domestic solar panel production and create clean energy jobs - as “mythical rubbish” and “Peter Pan idiocy”, claiming it was fuelling economic decline rather than growth.

“It's just this mythical thing. It's mythical rubbish,” Mr Joyce told The Bolt Report on Sky News.

“This sort of Peter Pan idiocy that, you know, we all fly out the window at night because we've got wings. You don't.
