Australia’s aviation industry has hit its busiest period since the pandemic, with school holidays and major football finals driving demand.
Thursday, September 18 saw a record 2,799 flights nationwide, according to the Australian Aviation Network Overview.
Brisbane recorded an all-time high of 617 movements on September 26 during peak holiday travel and sporting finals.
“These milestones reinforce the leisure-led nature of post-pandemic demand, highlighting how holiday travel and events continue to shape aviation growth,” an Airservices spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that airlines boosted capacity and used larger aircraft to meet the surge in passengers, with international traffic strengthened by outbound tourism to destinations like Bali and Kuala Lumpur.
