STATESBORO, Ga (WSAV) — Georgia Southern University (GSU) is expanding its international footprint by investing further into its Wexford Campus.

Last month, GSU, alongside Wexford County Council, broke ground on renovating the historic Adoration Convent into a residence center for students studying abroad.

Crews have already begun work on the building which dates back to 1886.

The renovations will make room for up to 56 university students and include study, recreation and cooking spaces for those who stay there.

The project is estimated to cost $7 million and comes exclusively from philanthropic donations.
