NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - According to the latest Winter Outlook by the National Weather Service, southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi is predicted to have "above" seasonal temperatures and "below" seasonal precipitation for Winter 2025-2026.
The winter weather will be very influenced by both El Niño and La Niña which we will go further into detail about in this upcoming week's "WEATHER WEDNESDAY" so please stay tuned for that...
For the months of December, January and February, the National Weather Service says, "Warmer-than-average temperatures are favored from the southern tier of the U.S. to the eastern seaboard and northern Alaska."
The graphic above indicates that our area's temperatures this winter season have a 40-50% chance of "leaning above normal."
