FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) - The Fond du Lac teen accused of killing a 20-year-old woman during a 2023 shooting unexpectedly took the stand Thursday morning, admitting that he fired a gun, but that it was out of fear.

Parise Larry took the stand to testify in his own defense, saying he only pulled the trigger when he saw two others, identified as Keshawn and Antonio Johnston, pull out their guns.

“I just saw Keshawn and Antonio pulling out guns and I was in fear for my life,” Larry said on the stand.

Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney asked if that was why he pulled out his gun and fired.

“Yes,” Larry said.

Prosecutors pressed and asked if one of the bullets from Larry's gun could have struck and killed Tatyanna Zech, who was struck in the head while taking out the trash.
