TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - In Tucson and Pima County, law enforcement is grappling with a staffing shortage that affects response times and patrol coverage. Agencies are finding innovative solutions to work smarter amid these challenges.
Sheriff Chris Nanos highlighted the issue, saying, "Our biggest challenge is how do we do more with less."
The Pima County Sheriff's Department is testing new artificial intelligence software that drafts police reports using body-camera audio. "What the software does is take the audio from the contact and generate a first draft of the case report," Captain Derrick Ogden of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.
This technology could save deputies up to two hours per shift. A similar focus on efficiency is evident at the Tucson Real-Time Analytical Crime
