SALT LAKE CITY — Fire crews in Hurricane announced propane flaring operations on Thursday, which would help to reduce potential fires or explosions, according to the Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue Team.

“Propane flaring is done when a large tank or pipeline needs to be emptied, repaired, or taken out of service,” the department said. “Instead of releasing propane into the air, trained fire crews safely ignite and burn it off in a controlled environment.”
