BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — NEMO Industries plans to construct a $3 billion pig iron plant in Donaldsonville.

According to the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), the first phase of the project is expected to supply around 2.3 million metric tons of pig iron annually for domestic and global partners. The project's plans include three phases.

The number of indirect jobs created for the community is expected to be 2,250.

Construction could start in 2027.
